Origin Bright White Frit (L) is crushed colored glass in a large particle size intended for flameworking and other torch-based glasswork. Frit is produced by breaking compatible colored glass into graded pieces, then screening it to a consistent size range. Large frit is chosen when you want bold, visible texture, strong spot color, and organic patterning that reads clearly after melting in. Bright white large frit is especially useful for high-contrast surfaces, snowy or foamy textures, and crisp white accents that can be left slightly raised for texture or melted smooth for solid coverage.
How it is used:
- Roll a warm gather or a tacky surface in the frit, or use a frit spoon to place it precisely where you want texture and color.
- Gently heat until the frit tacks down, then decide whether to keep the texture or melt it in fully for a smoother finish.
- Use large frit for intentional patterning, such as bands, patches, or scattered application, where you want the individual pieces to remain visually distinct.
