Light Blue Honey is a transparent borosilicate color rod with a blue tint that is designed to strike to its developed color either in the torch flame or during kiln cycles. It is produced as solid rod stock for borosilicate lampworking, giving you a consistent form for gathering, applying wraps, and building up transparent layers without introducing bubbles or haze when worked cleanly. This color is chosen when you want a clear, luminous blue that can deepen with controlled heatwork, making it useful for pieces where you want transparent depth rather than an opaque surface look.
How it is used:
Use this rod for borosilicate lampworking applications such as transparent overlays, casing, and blown sections where you want the blue tone to develop through striking. Work it in a neutral to slightly oxidizing flame to keep the transparency clean, then use deliberate reheats to bring the color up evenly across the surface. For more control, shape the piece first and let the annealing cycle assist with kiln striking so the final tone develops smoothly. It can also be pulled down into stringer for fine line work, scrolls, and transparent detail that will strike as you finish the piece and run it through the kiln.
