Transparent Purple is a transparent borosilicate color rod from the Boro Batch Small Batch line. It is manufactured as solid color rod intended for flameworking, offering a true transparent purple tone that can be used cleanly on its own or layered over clear for depth. Transparent purples are commonly chosen when you want saturated color while still letting light travel through the glass, making it a strong option for blown sections, overlays, and any work where you want dimensional color without turning opaque.
How it is used:
Use Transparent Purple in a neutral to slightly oxidizing flame to help maintain clarity and reduce haze. It works well for encasing applications, thin overlays on clear, and for building up color in layers to control how dark the final purple reads. For blown work, gather and inflate as you would clear, keeping the glass evenly heated to avoid chill marks that can show more easily in transparent colors. It can also be used as an accent line or lip wrap where you want a crisp transparent edge.
