Description
Lunar Glass Silver Blue Striking Borealis is a silver-rich color designed to move—building luminous blues with subtle green-teal shifts and an “aurora” shimmer as it strikes. In the flame it can look fairly calm at first, then blooms into layered bands of icy sky blue through deep ocean tones as you cycle heat and cool.
What to expect
- Color range: pale ice blue → bright electric blue → richer teal/ocean blue, often with soft, wavy “Borealis” banding.
- Strike behavior: develops best with controlled heatwork; the more you manage your cycles, the more depth and variation you’ll see.
- Look/finish: clean, glossy surface with dynamic movement—great when you want a piece to feel alive without going full metallic.
Working notes (general guidance)
- Start in a neutral flame and avoid overheating early if you want cleaner, more defined blues.
- To develop the strike, heat to a glow, let it cool slightly, then reheat gently—repeat to build depth.
- A slight reduction can help coax out richer tones, but too much can mute the clarity or push it darker than you want.
- If it goes muddy, bring it back with a brief neutral/oxygen-rich pass, then re-strike with gentler cycles.
Best uses
- Encasement-friendly for adding depth and “underwater” glow (test with your clear and process).
- Stringer and linework where the strike can create natural gradients.
- Surface accents on dark bases for high contrast, or on light bases for softer, atmospheric blues.
