TAG Caramelo Rod is a borosilicate glass rod manufactured by Trautman Art Glass, a trusted supplier in the lampworking community. This rod is composed of borosilicate glass with a 33 coefficient of expansion (COE), making it compatible with other borosilicate glass products. Caramelo is a highly saturated and reactive opaque amber-purple colored glass that produces rich, warm tones when worked. The rod measures approximately 16 inches in length and 7 millimeters in diameter. This glass requires a propane and oxygen torch for proper melting and working, as it will not melt adequately with a propane-only torch. Annealing should be performed at 1050 degrees Fahrenheit to relieve internal stress and prevent cracking.
