Description:
TAG Turboco Rod is a borosilicate color glass rod manufactured for 33 coefficient of expansion lampworking. It is produced as solid rod stock intended to be introduced directly into the torch flame for shaping, encasing, and color application. Turboco is commonly used when you want a saturated, stable color that can be applied as surface decoration, pulled down into stringer for fine line work, or used as the primary color in small sculptural and functional components. In typical bench torch work it is used for beads, pendants, small vessels, marbles, and sculptural details where controlled heat and consistent compatibility with other 33 COE borosilicate colors is required.
How it is used:
- Heat the end of the rod in a neutral to slightly oxidizing flame until a workable gather forms
- Apply the molten glass to clear borosilicate as wraps, dots, or stripes for surface decoration
- Pull the heated gather into stringer for fine detail lines, filigree, and cane work
- Use in layered builds by applying Turboco over or under other compatible 33 COE colors to create depth and pattern
- Anneal finished work on an appropriate borosilicate schedule to relieve stress and maintain durability
