Description:

Devardi Millefiori - White Star/Stripe is a pre-made soft glass millefiori component designed for lampworking and beadmaking. It is constructed as a patterned glass cane that has been built up in layers to form a white star and stripe design, then pulled down and cut into small cross-sectional pieces so the pattern appears on the face of each piece. This type of milli is used when you want consistent, repeatable pattern elements without having to build the design by hand in the flame.

How it is used:

Millefiori is used as a decorative inclusion on beads, marbles, small sculptural work, and other flame-worked pieces. Keep the base bead or workpiece warm, then gently preheat the milli at the far edge of the flame to reduce thermal shock. Once it is heat-tolerant, bring the milli closer to the working flame until the surface begins to gloss, then press it into the hot glass where you want the design. After placement, you can lightly melt it in to secure it while keeping the pattern readable, then continue shaping and anneal as appropriate for the glass type.
