Double Helix Terra2 is a recreated version of the original Terra made with a stabilized formula. It is an opaque rod that develops luster and is designed to maintain that luster under clear, making it especially useful when you want a metallic look that survives encasement.
In lampworking, Terra2 is used when you want an opaque color that will strike reliably and do it easily under an encasement. That makes it a strong choice for beads, small sculpture, and blown components where you want depth and a finished, polished surface without losing the luster effect after you cap it with clear.
Use Terra2 as an opaque base color or as an accent layer. Work it in a controlled, even heat so the surface stays clean, then allow it to strike to develop its final look. If you plan to encase, bring the color where you want it first, then apply your clear smoothly to preserve the luster and let the struck effect read through the encasement.
