Moretti Apple Blush Special Effetre Glass Rod is a pulled, solid soft-glass color rod made for lampworking. It is manufactured as a continuous cane that is cooled, cut into working lengths, and flame-worked by heating the tip and feeding molten glass into your bead, sculpture, or small blown form. This color is used when you want controlled placement of a warm blush tone for base color, surface striping, dots, scrollwork, and layered color builds that can be left as surface decoration or melted in smooth.
How it is used:
- Preheat the rod tip slowly in the outer flame to reduce thermal shock, then bring it into a working heat.
- Apply molten glass to a mandrel-based bead as a base wrap or as spot color for dots and bands.
- Pull stringer from the rod for fine linework, latticino-style striping, and delicate scroll details.
- Use small gathers from the rod for sculptural additions such as petals, cheeks, and accent pads, then shape with graphite or tungsten tools.
- Melt in fully for a smooth, solid layer or keep the application slightly raised for tactile decoration.
