Description:
This is a solid colored soft-glass rod manufactured for torchworking and small-scale hot glass applications. It is produced as a consistent diameter cane so it heats evenly, gathers cleanly, and can be applied with control for beadmaking and detailed lampworked components. Coral is a warm, saturated color that is commonly used when you want an opaque base tone, a strong accent color, or a warm underlayer that supports surface decoration without visually washing out.
How it is used:
- Preheat the rod slowly in the far flame, then bring it up to a stable working glow before making contact with your work.
- Wind it onto a mandrel for spacer beads and base beads, then shape with gravity, marvers, and gentle tool pressure.
- Pull it into stringer for fine linework, borders, and small detail applications over contrasting colors.
- Apply dots and trails for simple floral patterns, scrollwork, or layered spot decoration, then melt in smooth or leave raised for texture.
