This is a soft glass color rod made by Effetre Moretti in the color Ivory Dark. It is supplied as a solid rod that is melted in a torch flame and applied to a mandrel or to hot glass for beadmaking and soft glass lampworking. Dark ivory is commonly chosen when you want a warm, earthy neutral that can be used as a base color, as a design color for dots and stringer work, or as a grounding tone in layered bead designs. The rod format gives you controlled, consistent feed into the flame for building bead bodies, adding surface decoration, and pulling stringer for fine detail.
How it is used:
- Warm the rod tip gradually and build a small gather to start your application.
- Wind the molten glass onto a prepared mandrel to form the bead base.
- Add more glass to build shape, then use heat control and simple shaping tools to refine the profile.
- Pull stringer from a small gather for fine lines, borders, and detail work, then apply the stringer to the bead surface.
- Anneal finished pieces in a kiln using a schedule appropriate for soft glass.
