Moretti White Plain Alabaster is an Effetre soft glass rod pulled to a consistent working diameter in the 5–6mm range. This alabaster-style opaque white is a workhorse color for beadmaking and soft-glass flameworking when you want a creamy, gently diffused white rather than a sharp, bright white. It is especially useful for building smooth base beads, creating sculptural forms with a softer visual edge, and adding opaque white details that stay readable without overpowering surrounding colors.
How it is used:
- Heat the end of the rod in a neutral flame and build a gather for winding onto a mandrel for beads.
- Use as a base bead color for surface decoration such as dots, stringer work, and layered color applications.
- Pull stringers from the rod for fine linework, scrollwork, and clean opaque detailing.
