Moretti Red Flint Cool Rod is a soft glass color rod used for lampworking and beadmaking. It is manufactured as a straight, pull-formed glass rod designed to be worked directly in a torch flame for melting, shaping, and applying color to beads and small sculptural components. Red Flint is known as a deep red tone in the Effetre Moretti palette and is often chosen when you want a darker, earthier red that can read as a rich base color or be used in smaller applications for contrast and detail.
How it is used:
- Pre-warm the rod gradually in the back of the flame, then bring it forward to a working temperature to form a smooth molten gather.
- Wind the molten glass onto a mandrel to build bead bodies, or apply it as wraps, dots, and stripes over a base bead.
- Pull stringer for fine linework and controlled detailing, especially for scrollwork, borders, and accent lines.
- Use in layered designs with clear or other transparent colors to adjust depth and saturation while keeping edges clean.
