This is a transparent red striking Effetre Moretti soft glass stringer made in a thin, consistent cane for detailed lampworking. Stringer is pulled to a small diameter so it heats quickly and can be applied with control for fine lines, scrollwork, dots, and surface decoration on beads and small soft glass components. As a striking red, the color develops with heatwork, so it is commonly used when you want a transparent red that can be tuned through flame chemistry and reheating cycles for the final look.
How it is used:
- Preheat the tip and apply as surface linework, dots, and scrolls on 104 COE soft glass beads and small components.
- Use gentle, even heat to avoid shocking the thin stringer and to keep application smooth and consistent.
- Develop the striking red color by cycling heat and allowing brief cooling between reheats until the shade is where you want it.
- Lightly encase with compatible clear 104 COE glass when appropriate to protect surface decoration and add depth.
