Pixie Dust - Grey Lavender is a fine powdered iridescence used to add a shimmering, color-shifting accent to soft glass work. This product is applied to hot glass to create highlighted areas and surface effects that can be used to emphasize focal points, add depth to sculptural details, or introduce an iridescent sheen over selected sections of a bead or small component. After application, the piece is briefly annealed with care taken to avoid burning the powder off, and a transparent protective coating is generally recommended to help preserve the finish. This Pixie Dust color is sold in 28 gram increments.
How it is used:
- Bring the area of the glass you want to accent to a red-hot working temperature.
- Lightly immerse the hot section into the powder or gently coat the surface with Pixie Dust.
- Briefly anneal while keeping the heat controlled so the powder does not burn off.
- Apply a transparent protective coating as a finishing layer when appropriate for your process.
