Description:
Madhatter Boro Boots are durable silicone boots made to slip over the ends of glass tubing to create a reliable sealing grip for blow hose work. Each boot is molded from flexible silicone that is rated for 450 degrees F and is engineered to fit the consistent outside diameter of glass tubing. A centered hole is built into the boot to accept a blow hose swivel, allowing you to connect a blow hose to tubing quickly without tape or improvised seals. These boots are used in lampworking and scientific glassblowing when you need a fast, repeatable way to seal tubing for blowing, pressure work, or controlled inflation while shaping hot glass. The silicone can stretch to fit tubing slightly larger than its nominal size, making it useful for studios that work across a small range of tube sizes.
How it is used:
- Slide the silicone boot onto the end of clean, dry glass tubing to create a snug seal
- Insert the blow hose swivel through the center hole so the hose connection is supported and aligned
- Use the booted tube for controlled blowing while forming bulbs, sections, or expanded shapes
- Remove the boot after the glass has cooled enough to handle safely and store it clean for reuse
- Use multiple boots to set up several blow tubes for production work or teaching environments
