Description:
Asian 12mm Opaque Purple Tubing is opaque purple color glass tubing made in China and supplied as straight tubing for flameworking and lampworking. It is manufactured as a consistent hollow tube so you can start hollow work directly from colored stock, giving you uniform color through the wall instead of relying on surface color applications. Opaque purple is chosen when you want a strong, solid color read that stays visually consistent in thicker sections and finished hollow forms where transparent colors can darken or look uneven.
How it is used:
This tubing is used as starting material for hollow lampworked forms such as small vessels, tubing-based pendants, blown components, and other hollow sections where you want the color built into the body of the piece. The tube is typically cut into workable lengths, heated evenly while rotating to keep it straight, then shaped by pulling, flaring, necking down, sealing, and blowing or expanding depending on the form. It is also used for colored collars and transition sections in multi-part builds when you want a clean, uninterrupted opaque purple segment.
