Asian-made borosilicate color profile tubing in a blue formulation, produced as a consistent, machine-drawn tube with a shaped outer profile rather than a simple round outside surface. Profile tubing is used when you want a built-in contour that can be preserved for a crisp, mechanical look or intentionally softened and re-shaped for custom geometry. Starting from profile tubing can save significant torch time because the outside form is already established, and the blue color provides a strong, saturated field that reads clean and bold in finished work.
This tubing is used as a hollow blank for lampworking when you want a distinctive outside shape without having to sculpt it from scratch. Artists commonly cut a section, fire-polish the ends, and then attach a handle or blow tube for controlled heating and inflation. With careful heat control you can keep the profile crisp for defined ridges and facets, or you can selectively heat and round it to blend the shape into smoother transitions. The larger starting diameter is well-suited for bigger hollow bodies, statement sections, and components where the profile can become a design feature, such as grips, collars, or architectural accents in assembled work.
