Origin Baby Blue Frit (F) is a fine-grade crushed glass color frit used for lampworking and kilnformed glass work. Frit is made by crushing compatible colored glass and screening it into a consistent particle size. The fine grade is selected when you want a smooth melt-in, soft color transitions, and minimal surface texture, which makes it ideal for clean pastel coverage, gentle shading, and detailed work where larger frit would read as more speckled. Baby blue is commonly used for sky tones, soft gradients, and light accent color in beads, small sculpture, and layered color builds.
How it is used:
- Warm the bead or component to a tacky heat, roll it through a frit tray to coat, then reheat gently to set and fully melt the frit in.
- Sprinkle frit onto a hot area for controlled placement, then spot-heat to lock it in before bringing the whole piece up to an even melt.
- Use under a clear layer to add depth while keeping the surface smooth, or blend with other frit colors to build soft gradients and pastel mixes.
- In kiln work, apply frit to compatible glass for surface decoration or color blending, then fire to a tack fuse for texture or a full fuse for a smooth finish.
