Origin Camelot Frit (S) is a small-grade glass frit blend in the Camelot color, made for adding controlled surface color and light, even texture to flameworked work. Small frit gives you a balanced look that is more defined than fine frit but less chunky than large frit, making it a dependable choice for consistent coverage and repeatable results.
In lampworking, small frit is commonly used when you want predictable placement and a clean melt-in on beads, pendants, marbles, and small sculptural components. It is especially useful for building layered color, creating subtle surface variation, and adding visual interest without heavily distorting the underlying form.
How it is used:
- Heat the glass until the surface is tacky, then roll or gently press the hot area into the frit
- Flash the piece in and out of the flame to secure the frit before you fully melt it in
- Melt in gradually while rotating to keep the coating even and avoid thick build-up
- Apply lightly for speckling, or apply more heavily for fuller coverage
- Encasing can be used when appropriate to smooth the surface and add depth to layered frit color
