Origin Cola Frit (F) is a fine-grade brown glass frit used to create smooth, even color application and subtle speckling in lampworking and other torch-based glasswork. Fine frit is made of smaller particles than small or large frit, so it picks up quickly, melts in faster, and is ideal when you want a more uniform layer with less surface texture. This is a strong choice for warm neutral palettes, shading, and underlayers, especially when you want brown tones that can be built up gradually without heavy grain. It can be melted in clean for a satin-smooth finish, lightly melted for a peppered look, or encased under clear to add depth and keep the surface crisp.
How it is used:
- Warm the glass evenly and bring the surface to a light tack for controlled pickup
- Roll or dab the hot glass into the frit for a thin, consistent coating
- Melt in fully for smooth coverage, or melt in lightly to preserve fine speckling
- Apply in thin layers to build tone gradually without overpowering the base color
- Encapsulate with clear when you want added depth and a cleaner surface finish
