Origin Indigo Frit (S) is a lampworking color frit made by crushing compatible color glass into small granules. Small frit is used when you want controlled, even coverage with a finer speckle pattern than large frit, making it ideal for smooth melt-ins, soft gradients, and clean surface color on beads, pendants, and small sculptural work. This format is especially useful for quickly adding Indigo color without switching to rod, and it can be layered under clear encasement or combined with other frit sizes for added depth.
How it is used:
- Heat the area you want to decorate until the surface is slightly tacky, then roll or dab it into the frit to pick up a light, even layer.
- Reheat gently to tack the frit in place, then melt it in fully for a smooth surface or partially for a light texture.
- Build gradients by applying heavier frit where you want the darkest area, then thinning out the application as you move across the form.
- Use as a base before adding stringer details, dots, or encasement to create depth and color movement.
