Origin Jade Green Frit (L) is a large-grade crushed glass color frit used in flameworking and other kiln-formed glass processes. It is made by crushing compatible colored glass into coarse particles, giving you a fast way to add bold jade-green color, surface texture, and visual depth without pulling stringers or switching to a full color rod. Large frit is typically chosen when you want more pronounced speckling, heavier texture, or larger color breaks than you would get from fine frit.
How it is used:
- Warm the base glass in the flame until the surface is tacky, then roll or dip the hot glass into frit in a frit tray.
- Reheat to tack the frit in place, then melt it in smoothly for a sealed surface or leave it slightly raised for texture depending on the look you want.
- Use as a spot accent for dots and bands, or apply more heavily for mottled color fields on beads, pendants, and small components.
- For cleaner results, apply frit in thinner layers and fully melt in, then add a light encasement of clear if your design calls for a smoother finish.
