Origin Lime Green Frit (S) is crushed colored glass frit in a small particle size. It is made by breaking compatible colored glass into granules, then screening the material so the pieces fall into a consistent small grade. Small frit is used when you want more even coverage and smoother melt-in than large frit, while still getting a lively, broken-color surface. In lampworking, small frit is a reliable way to introduce lime green color quickly for beads, pendants, small blown forms, and sculptural details, especially when you want speckling that can be melted nearly smooth without losing the variation that frit naturally creates.
How it is used:
- Keep the frit dry and free-flowing so it applies evenly when you roll or dip your work.
- Warm the glass until the surface is tacky, then roll it through the frit to pick up a controlled layer.
- Melt in gently with a soft flame to seat the frit and reduce the chance of trapping air.
- Melt in further for a smoother finish, or leave it slightly raised when you want more texture.
- Add a clear layer over the top when you want depth and a smoother surface while preserving the frit pattern.
