Origin Ozone Frit is a fine grade color frit made for lampworking, used to add quick, even surface color and subtle speckling to hot glass. Frit is produced by crushing compatible colored glass and screening it into specific particle sizes, and the fine grade is ideal when you want smoother coverage, softer transitions, and less surface texture than medium or large frit. This is a solid choice for tinting and shading, building gentle color fades, and adding controlled color to beads, small sculpture, and blown components without the heavier, chunkier look that larger frit can create.
How it is used:
- Heat the area you want to color until the surface is tacky, then lightly roll or dab into a frit tray for controlled pickup.
- Flash the piece in and out of the flame to set the frit, then melt in gradually to avoid boiling or scumming from overheating.
- Use a light application for a dusting effect, or build layers for deeper color while keeping the surface relatively smooth.
