Origin Spring Purple Frit in size F is finely crushed glass color frit graded to a very small particle size so it applies smoothly and melts in quickly. It is produced by crushing compatible colored glass and screening it to a fine grade, which gives you consistent coverage and predictable flow when you bring it up to temperature. Spring Purple fine frit is used when you want soft, even color placement with minimal surface texture, especially on beads, small sculptural work, and detailed areas where larger frit can look too coarse. It is also a practical choice for building layered color under clear when you want depth without a heavy, pebbled surface.
How it is used:
- Heat the glass until it is evenly tacky, then roll or dab the hot area into fine frit for controlled pickup.
- Melt in gently and evenly, then finish to the surface texture you want, from lightly textured to fully smooth.
- Apply in thin layers for shading, or combine with other frit colors to blend transitions and create mottled effects.
- For kiln work, sift or sprinkle fine frit for precise color placement on sheet glass, in molds, or in shallow dams before firing.
