Origin Stone Grey Frit (S) is a small-size crushed glass color frit intended for lampworking and other kilnformed glass processes. Frit is made by taking compatible colored glass, crushing it, and screening it into consistent particle sizes. The small grade is commonly chosen when you want more even coverage, tighter patterning, and cleaner detail than medium or coarse frit can provide. Stone grey tones are often used for neutral bases, shading, and natural stone-like palettes in sculptural work, beads, and small accents.
How it is used:
- Roll a warm gather, bead, or component through a frit tray to pick up an even layer of frit, then gently reheat to tack it in place and melt it smooth.
- Sprinkle frit onto a hot surface for more controlled placement, then spot-heat to set and fully melt in.
- Use as a base layer under clear for depth, or combine with other frit colors to build mottled, granite-like, or shaded effects.
- In kiln work, frit can be used for surface decoration and color blending when applied to compatible glass and fired to a full fuse or tack fuse, depending on the desired texture.
