Simax clear tubing is precision-drawn borosilicate glass tubing used in both scientific and artistic lampworking when you need clean clarity, consistent diameter, and dependable sealing behavior. The tubing is constructed as a straight hollow cylinder with a uniform wall, which allows it to be heated, stretched, sealed, and joined while maintaining roundness and even wall distribution. In scientific glass work, clear tubing like this is commonly used to fabricate and repair laboratory components, build connectors and manifolds, form sealed sections, and create custom parts where internal visibility is important. In artistic lampworking it is often used as starting stock for small blown forms, clean structural elements, and transparent sections that showcase interior detail. This size is a practical choice when you want a slightly larger passageway and a bit more mass than smaller tubing, while still keeping good control at the torch.

How it is used:

• Heat the tubing evenly while rotating to maintain a round profile and prevent sagging
• Seal ends to make closed sections, test pieces, or preforms for further shaping
• Join to compatible borosilicate tubing and fittings using standard sealing techniques
• Pull down into smaller diameter tubing or use as starting stock for transitions
• Blow small expansions to form bulbs, reservoirs, and shaped sections for scientific or artistic builds
