Description:
This is Simax tubing that has been internally coated with amber enamel to create a colored interior surface while keeping the outside surface clear and workable. The scallop style tubing is used when you want added visual texture and light play in the finished piece, while still working from a consistent tube form. In lampworking, enamel coated tubing like this is chosen for decorative sections, accents, and components where you want color present without building up heavy exterior layers.
How it is used:
- Cut the tubing to length and fire-polish the ends to remove sharp edges.
- Warm the tube gradually and rotate continuously to heat evenly and protect the enamel coating from thermal shock.
- Use it as a decorative section in tube assemblies, transitions, or small blowouts where interior color and surface texture are desired.
- Seal to compatible clear tubing using even heat and good alignment, then anneal appropriately for the wall thickness.
