Boro Batch Swamp Strike Frit in XL size is a borosilicate color frit made by crushing and sizing Swamp Strike color glass into extra large granules. This is a striking yellow-green color intended for lampworking artists who want bold, organic movement and strong color development from heatwork. XL frit is used when you want pronounced texture, larger “chunk” patterning, and visible breaks of color that can be melted in smooth or left with more surface character depending on your finish. Swamp Strike is described as versatile and it can be worked for effects like coil-potted striping or fully striking the color out for a more developed look.
How it is used:
Heat the area of your piece where you want color, then roll the hot glass through a small pile of XL frit or place individual pieces with tweezers for precise layout. Gently tack the frit on, then bring the piece up to temperature and melt the frit in until it is fully seated. For coil-potted striping effects, apply frit in bands and melt in just enough to hold definition before adding your next gather or wrap. To fully strike the color, cycle the heat by bringing the glass up to a working glow, then backing off to let the color develop, repeating as needed until the yellow-green strike is where you want it.
