Description:

The Tumbler Nylon Bearing 1/6hp is a replacement nylon bearing used in a tumbler drive assembly to support a rotating shaft while reducing friction and wear. It is made from a durable nylon bearing material that provides a smooth, low-drag contact surface, helping the shaft stay aligned and turn freely under load. In lapidary and glass studios, tumblers are commonly used to smooth and polish materials, and a worn bearing can cause squealing, belt tracking problems, inconsistent barrel rotation, and added strain on the motor. Replacing the nylon bearing restores smoother operation and helps protect the shaft and drive components from premature wear.

How it is used:

  • Disconnect power to the tumbler before servicing.
  • Remove any belt guard or cover, then relieve belt tension and move the belt out of the way if needed for access.
  • Disassemble the bearing mount or housing enough to remove the worn nylon bearing.
  • Install the new nylon bearing in the same orientation as the original, ensuring it seats fully and the shaft spins freely without binding.
  • Reassemble the housing, realign the shaft and pulleys, then set belt tension and test run the tumbler to confirm smooth, quiet rotation.
