Description:

The Tumbler V-Belt 1/6hp is a replacement V-belt designed for Covington 1/6 horsepower rotary tumblers. It's constructed from durable rubber compound with reinforced cord construction, transferring rotational power from the motor to the tumbler barrel through a pulley system. The V-shaped profile grips the pulleys securely, preventing slippage during operation.

In lapidary and glass studios, tumblers are commonly used to polish small parts and media. For lampworkers, that can include smoothing sharp edges on small glass components after coldworking, burnishing metal findings used in beadmaking, or running abrasive media for finishing work. A worn or damaged V-belt is one of the most common reasons for loss of power transmission, slipping, or complete failure to rotate the barrel. Replacing it restores full torque delivery to the tumbler and ensures consistent polishing results.

How it is used:

  • Power down and unplug the tumbler before servicing.
  • Remove the barrel and locate the V-belt running between the motor pulley and the drive pulley.
  • Release tension by loosening the motor mount or using the belt tensioner, then slide off the worn belt.
  • Clean the pulley surfaces of any debris, dust, or old rubber residue.
  • Install the new V-belt in the same groove orientation, ensuring it sits centered and fully engaged in both pulleys.
  • Adjust tension so the belt deflects approximately one-half inch under moderate hand pressure.
  • Reassemble and test-run the tumbler to confirm smooth, quiet rotation before returning it to full loads.
