Item Name:
Nichrome Fusing Wire (20G)
SKU:

Description:
Nichrome fusing wire in 20 gauge is a nickel chromium resistance alloy wire used in kilnforming and glass fusing. It is commonly used as a high-heat tie wire to secure glass components, support small assemblies, or hold items in position during a firing where standard steel wire would scale, weaken, or fail. Nichrome maintains strength and oxidation resistance at typical fusing and slumping temperatures, making it useful for temporary fixturing and light support work in the kiln.
How it is used:
- Cut a short length of wire using flush cutters or snips dedicated to metal.
- Twist the wire to create a secure tie around or through a kiln-safe support point to hold parts in place during firing.
- Use only enough tension to stabilize the setup without stressing the glass as it heats and moves.
- After the firing and full cooldown, remove the wire and discard if it has become brittle or heavily oxidized.
