Description:

The Temp Wear Skutt Scarab Kiln Mat is a heat-resistant kiln floor pad designed to sit on the bottom of a Skutt Scarab kiln and act as a protective barrier between your work and the kiln floor. It is made as a flat, rigid mat that helps catch drips and debris, reducing the chance of glass, enamel, or other materials sticking to and damaging the kiln’s interior floor. This is especially useful in kilnforming and fusing workflows where accidental runoff, slumping residue, or small chips can otherwise fuse to the kiln surface and create long-term maintenance issues.

How it is used:

• Place the kiln mat flat on the kiln floor before firing.
• Position kiln posts, shelves, molds, or your work on top of the mat as appropriate for your firing setup.
• After firing and cooling, remove the mat and clean off any residue to keep the kiln floor protected for future firings.
