Item Name:

Blow More Glass Tools - 6" x 12" x 1/4" Graphite Plate

Description:

This graphite plate is made from top grade graphite and is manufactured as a flat, rigid working surface for glasswork. Graphite is valued at the bench because it tolerates direct heat contact and provides a smooth surface that hot glass will not readily stick to. A plate like this is a staple surface for shaping, supporting, and working hot glass when you want a clean contact face that will not chill the glass as aggressively as metal.

How it is used:

A graphite plate is used as an ideal glassworking surface for lampworking tasks where you need a flat area for light marvering, squaring up edges, supporting hot sections, or staging small components between heats. It is especially useful when you want to gently control shape while keeping the glass moving and avoiding unwanted chill marks. The flat plate format also makes it convenient as a general-purpose bench surface for repetitive forming and cleanup work.
