This is a double-sided 90 degree swivel fitting made from 304 stainless steel. Version 2 is designed with a larger internal bore for airflow, listed as a 55 percent larger bore airway than the original version. The stainless construction is intended to resist rust under normal studio use, and the 90 degree body layout is designed to keep the blowhose routing compact at the bench while still allowing the connection to rotate smoothly.
This swivel is used in a lampworking blowhose setup to reduce hose twist and hand torque while you rotate, reposition, or switch hands during glassblowing at the bench. The 90 degree angle helps route the hose down and away from your work area, and the swivel action helps keep the hose from binding as you move the piece through different working positions. This is especially helpful during longer sessions where hose drag and twist can fatigue your wrist and interrupt smooth, controlled blowing.
