This is a graphite marble mold machined as a rectangular block with six round forming cavities. The graphite surface provides a smooth contact face that helps glass release cleanly while also pulling heat from the outer skin to help the marble firm up. The six-hole layout gives you multiple marble sizes in one tool for repeatable production work and consistent sets.
Use this mold in lampworking when you want to quickly round and size a gather into a true marble. After you build a hot, centered gather, roll or settle it into the cavity that matches your target size and rotate the glass to establish a smooth sphere. Once the surface firms, return to the flame to refine the shape, correct chill marks, and bring the marble back to an even heat before annealing.
