Item Name:
Replacement Graphite Reamer 2mm - 12mm
SKU:
850-860
Description:
This replacement reamer is a graphite forming tool with a tapered working section sized to open and true holes from 2 mm up to 12 mm. Graphite is used for reamers because it tolerates direct heat, does not readily stick to molten glass, and allows you to shape and refine openings while the glass is still hot and workable. In lampworking and beadmaking, a reamer in this range is used when you need controlled enlargement of an opening, refinement of an inside diameter, or a smooth, consistent taper for fit-up and assembly work on smaller components and delicate pieces.
How it is used:
- Used to open and true hot glass openings from 2 mm to 12 mm
- Used to smooth and round the inside edge of a hole after punching or drilling open in the flame
- Used to refine the inside diameter for consistent fit when assembling small components
- Used with gentle heat management so the glass stays workable without overheating the graphite contact area
- Used with light, controlled pressure and continuous rotation to keep openings round and even
