Blue Aventurine Small Frit is a crushed glass frit made from aventurine glass, a specialty glass formulated with metallic crystals suspended in the base glass to create a sparkling, reflective effect. In lampworking, small frit is used when you want controlled, even coverage and fine detail without the heavier texture you get from coarse grades. This is a strong choice for surface decoration on beads, small blown forms, and sculptural accents when you want a glittering blue highlight that reads clearly after melting in.
How it is used:
- Roll a warm gather or bead lightly through the frit to pick up an even layer, then reheat to tack it down.
- Sprinkle frit onto a marver or frit pad and press the hot glass into it for more targeted placement.
- Melt in gently to keep the sparkle distributed, then encase with clear if you want added depth and a smoother surface.
- Use in small amounts over dark bases for higher contrast and a more visible shimmer.
- Combine with other compatible frit colors for layered, speckled blends and subtle transitions.
