Moretti Dark Topaz is a transparent Effetre soft glass color pulled into solid rod for lampworking. This rod is commonly used when you want a warm, brown topaz tone that stays transparent, making it useful for layered color work, encasement-friendly designs, and adding depth without turning opaque. Effetre rods are typically worked in a neutral to slightly oxidizing flame to help keep transparent colors clean and to reduce unwanted scorching or haze on the surface.
How it is used:
- Heat the end of the rod in the outer flame until a small gather forms, then apply it to a mandrel-based bead or to a hot glass base as a wrap.
