Moretti Red & Yellow Flower Milli is a floral-pattern millefiori cane made from compatible soft glass. It is constructed by bundling multiple colors to build the flower design, fusing that bundle into a solid mass, and then pulling it into a single patterned cane so the design repeats through the length. When you slice the cane into thin cross-sections, each slice reveals the same red and yellow flower motif. In lampworking and beadmaking, this millefiori is used when you want bright, consistent floral decoration that can be applied quickly to beads, small pendants, and surface accents. The slices are typically fused onto the surface and can be left slightly raised for texture or melted in smooth, and they can be lightly encased for added depth and protection.
How it is used:
- Warm the millefiori cane slowly at the edge of the flame to reduce thermal shock.
- Use nippers or a mosaic cutter to take thin slices from the cane.
- Preheat the slices on a warming plate, kiln marver, or the back of the flame so they are less likely to crack on contact.
- Tack a slice onto a warm bead or component, then gently reheat until it fully bonds to the surface.
- Melt in to your preferred profile, then anneal as normal for your glass type.
