Moretti White Line Reticello is a specialty soft-glass cane made by layering and twisting contrasting glass colors into a tight, repeating line pattern. The white line design is built into the cane so the pattern stays consistent as you heat, pull, and apply it. It is used in lampworking when you want clean, graphic striping and classic reticello-style visual movement without having to build the pattern by hand from multiple stringers.
How it is used:
- Warm the reticello cane gradually in the outer flame to prevent thermal shock.
- Heat the working end until it becomes tacky, then touch it to the bead or hot gather to tack it in place.
- Wrap the cane around the bead or form as a line accent, band, or spiral, keeping steady tension for even spacing.
- Melt in gently to preserve crisp line definition, then shape as needed with gravity and light marvering.
- For finer linework, heat and pull the cane down into stringer, then apply the pulled stringer for more delicate reticello striping.
