Moretti White & Yellow Reticello is a soft glass reticello cane that produces a fine net-like line pattern in white and yellow when it is melted in and worked. Reticello cane is constructed by layering and twisting thin lines of colored glass within a clear base, creating a controlled spiral and cross-line structure that reads as a delicate lattice once it is heated and shaped. This style of cane is used in soft-glass lampworking when you want clean linear detail, movement, and a classic Italian cane look on beads, small vessels, and decorative components.
How it is used:
- Pre-warm the reticello cane slowly in the back of the flame to reduce thermal shock.
- Heat the bead or base glass until the surface is evenly hot and slightly soft.
- Apply the cane by touching and rolling it onto the surface, or by placing a small cut section where you want the pattern.
- Reheat gently and evenly so the line work seals in without smearing the lattice.
- Use a marver or graphite paddle to keep the surface smooth while preserving the clarity of the line pattern.
- If desired, encase with a compatible clear glass after the design is fully sealed to add depth and protect the reticello detail.
