Description:
This is a 6" diamond sanding disc in 100 grit, built with a diamond abrasive working face bonded to a flexible backing and finished with a pressure sensitive adhesive layer for mounting to a flat lap plate or disc master. The 100 grit grade is a coarse, fast cutting surface intended for heavy stock removal.
In lampworking and coldworking, this grit is used when you need to quickly true and flatten a surface, remove saw marks, knock down sharp edges, or correct a fit before moving up through finer grits. It is an early step in a sanding sequence, setting the shape and leaving a coarse scratch pattern that is refined with medium and fine diamond discs and then polished.
How it is used:
- Mount the disc to a clean, flat backing plate using the adhesive backing and press it down evenly so it seats without bubbles or wrinkles.
- Use with water as coolant and lubricant while grinding to control heat, reduce glass dust, and improve disc life.
- Keep the glass moving with light, even pressure to avoid digging grooves and to reduce edge chipping.
- Once the shape is established and the scratches are uniform, progress to finer grits such as 220, 325, 600, and beyond, then polish as needed for the finish you want.
