Description:
This 8" 100 grit diamond sanding disc is a coarse coldworking abrasive disc made for aggressive material removal on a compatible 8" lap or disc machine when used with the proper backing plate. It is constructed with a diamond abrasive surface bonded to a flexible disc backing, giving it the cutting power needed for hard materials while maintaining a flat working face for controlled grinding. In glasswork, 100 grit is used early in the coldworking process when you need to remove saw marks quickly, knock down sharp edges, true up uneven surfaces, or correct chips and damage before moving into refinement grits. Because it is a coarse grit, it leaves a heavier scratch pattern that is meant to be followed by progressively finer discs to clean up and prepare for finishing and polishing.
How it is used:
- Attach the 8" disc to a compatible backing plate or master lap on your disc machine.
- Use firm but controlled pressure to remove material efficiently while keeping the glass moving to maintain flatness.
- Grind until the surface is trued and major saw marks, chips, or uneven areas are removed.
- Step up through finer diamond grits to reduce the scratch pattern and refine the finish.
