The Knight Dragon Fire - Surface Mix is a 2-inlet bench torch built in a surface mix configuration. It uses a non-piloted center fire drilled with a .062 hole, with two rows of outer tubes that expand the working flame area. In a surface mix torch, the fuel and oxygen are delivered separately and mix at the face of the torch, which is commonly chosen when you want a broad, stable flame with strong heat coverage and a working character that is well-suited to extended heating cycles.
This torch is used in lampworking when you need even heat across larger sections of glass, such as warming up thick tubing, bringing larger assemblies up to temperature, and maintaining a wide heat base for shaping and reforming without concentrating all the heat into a single tight point.
