Description:
This is a piece of clear fused quartz tubing sized 19mm outer diameter with a 1mm wall thickness. Fused quartz is a high-silica glass used when you need tubing that tolerates very high temperatures and rapid heating and cooling with excellent dimensional stability. In scientific lampworking and high-heat fabrication, quartz tubing is selected for components that must resist thermal shock and maintain clarity and shape in demanding service, such as protective sleeves, liners, and high-temperature process parts.
How it is used:
- Used as quartz tubing stock for fabricating or repairing high-temperature components such as sleeves, guards, and protective tubes.
- Worked with an oxygen and hydrogen torch system for shaping, sealing, welding, or collapsing quartz, since quartz requires higher working temperatures than standard lampworking glass.
- Cut to length for the build, then the ends can be heat-finished to improve fit, reduce sharp edges, or prepare the tube for joining into an assembly.
