This fused quartz rod is a solid, clear quartz rod with an 18.0mm diameter. In lampworking and scientific torchwork, larger diameter fused quartz rod is selected when you need a material that withstands very high working temperatures and holds up well under demanding heat exposure. It is commonly used for building or repairing robust, heat-exposed components, forming larger structural parts, and making specialty pieces where thermal stability and cleanliness are important.
How it is used:
- Warm the rod slowly and evenly, then bring a broad working area up to temperature before pushing, pulling, or bending to shape.
