Construction

This is a top grade graphite plate machined flat to create a stable, heat-tolerant working surface. Graphite is used in lampworking because hot glass will glide on it and release cleanly, allowing controlled shaping without sticking.

Use in Lampworking

A graphite plate is an ideal bench surface for marvering and forming. Use it to gently flatten and true up a gather, straighten and square edges, and create consistent planes while the glass is still workable. It is also useful any time you want a smooth, non-marring surface close to the torch for quick shaping passes.
