5mm Diamond Core Sintered Straight Drill Bits for Glass
Hurry! Only a few items left in stock!
The sintered straight core drills, unlike brazed or plated drills, have diamond content throughout the tip of the drill. The advantages are apparent in the lifespan of the drill, and the speed and efficiency of the drilling. Being different from brazed and plated drills doesn't just stop at the diamond bond though. With sintered drills, it is necessary to have a continuous water feed moving through the center of the drill to prevent both damaging the drill and your work. A long-wearing sintered diamond core bit for smooth, efficient drilling in glass with proper continuous water feed.

Construction
This is a sintered diamond core drill with a straight shank and a hollow center. The cutting end is sintered, meaning diamond abrasive is distributed throughout the working tip rather than only on the surface. The hollow core is designed to allow water to feed through the center during drilling to cool the bit and flush debris.
Use in Lampworking
This bit is used for coldworking operations when you need clean, controlled holes in glass. In a lampworking workflow, it is most commonly used after annealing to drill holes for pendants, beads, and components that need mechanical mounting. Because the product notes specify continuous water feed through the center, it is best used with a setup that can supply constant water flow to prevent overheating the bit and stressing the glass during the cut.
